Smart Dieting

Trying to zip your favorite jeans?I can’t say enough good things about drinking water.  A  quart of water (32 fluid ounces) in the morning, another in the afternoon, and one in the evening before dinner is very helpful in degestion, hydration, and flushing toxins out of the body. Some lemon juice added to your water will give a jump start to your degestion and help to cleanse the liver. Ice water is said to burn some calories.

We can go for weeks without food but only afew days without water. Our bodies are made up of about two thirds water. It helps to hydrate the skin also.

Fruit is full of fiber, great for the colon and helpful in flushing out toxins. Apples are very nutritious.  Full of Vitamin C and B. The nutritive value can be found at this site:

Eating several small meals or snacks throughout the day is said to be very good in keeping the metabolism revved up. It is a fact that people who eat a substantial breakfast are skinnier than people who don’t.  And by not missing this important meal you can be more assured of not snacking on the wrong foods in the middle of the day when the hunger pangs begin. Spicy food that has hot peppers in it can boost metabolism.

Exercise is one of the most important parts of losing weight. Walking is fast becoming the jogging of the past.  It is said to work as cardio and is great in busting that belly fat. You can burn 675 calories an hour walking briskly.  Be sure you have comfortable shoes. If you experience pain or any discomfort during your first few weeks it may be a good idea to take your favorite pain killer before you embark on your walk. This will make it less of a negative experience and more enjoyable for you.

You should always check with your doctor to be sure you are not over doing it. If you can afford one a train is an excellent help in setting up an exercise regime and discussing your goals.

There is usually a time during weight loss where you will reach a ‘plateau’. This is where no matter what you do you cannot seem to lose an ounce. It can be frustrating but it is normal and if you keep on your exercise plan and keep working toward your goals before long you will start losing again.

Diets don’t work. I know those three words are probably something you don’t want to hear.  It really takes a lifestyle change. Most of these popular diet places that are charging you hundreds of dollars a month are just giving you managed portions and a better diet. They also give you support and some people need/want to approach their goals just this way. Whatever works.
